AN INTERVIEW WITH THE SCHOOL- PRINCIPAL
- LARS OLSSON

How do you live as a ski- student?
You can live in a dorm where you get a little room and a lot of friends. You have got the possibility to cook your own meals in a common kitchen but otherwise the school offers 3 meals a day.
You can also rent an apartment in one of Torsby´ s 4 housing areas where a lot of students live. They are situated close to downtown and walking distances are short.

What about transport and communication in Torsby?
Most of the places in Torsby are within walking distance. There are not many local- buses, but if you use a bike you will have no problem. However, cars are the most popular means of transportation.

Are there good communications from Torsby to other places in Sweden?
We have got trains leaving at short intervals, ready to make you face the world. There are also a lot of buses leaving- and coming. We also have an airport with planes leaving and coming twice a day.

How much does it cost to spend a year at the ski- program?
It costs about 16.000 swedish crowns for the program and then you have the possibility of paying for your ski- training with study allowances.

How much time do I get for training?
You will have it on the schedule 3 half days a week and after that it is individual training, up to your self.

Are there a lot of journeys made- for training and competitions? Or do you mostly train in Torsby?
The Swedish Sports Confederation has a lot of expectations on the students. They want you to achieve your goals and they have set up a very high level for the training, and on of these goals is to compete a lot and to do your best. There are a lot of trips made, but most of them, you have to pay for yourself. It also depends on the access to snow. If there is a lot of snow, you can stay in Torsby.
