Name: Maria Börjel
Age: 17
Grade: First year of Liberal Arts (Social Science) program.
Choice of event: Cross country skiing

How do you combine studies with your choice of event?:
I have training on my schedule, about 3,5 days a week and I sometimes have longer schooldays than ordinary students. It can be a little hard sometimes to get time to do my homework but I manage. And we also have four years of studies as compared to the three years the ordinary students have.

How is Torsby as a skiing facility?
Very good! We have loads of snow during the winter season. The skiing facilities keep the snow available for us skiers during a longer period. The coaches try to give us chances to ski during a longer period so before the snow has reached our parts of the country we travel to where there is snow. For example, last year we went to Norway for a week.

What is your opinion about the coaches?
We have very well educated coaches. Among them we have people who have worked as personal trainers for the Swedish national team.

A competition you remember?
A relay I had with some guys. I remember that because I had the winning position when I reached the change- over. I was quite young then and we won!

Is there anything you would like to change?
To get the ski tunnel

Sometimes is shooting training both cold and very lonley.

My Buskqvist- last year student, standing under the portrait of Stjerneskolans most well known student- Gunde Svan, probably the best Cross-coutry skier in modern times.
